Ruben E. Socarras, Esq., founder/managing partner of the firm, is an AV® Preeminent™ rated attorney focusing his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and business law, employment law, and general civil litigation, including wrongful death and personal injury law. Mr. Socarras has experience representing individuals and businesses in a variety of cases before state and federal courts, including those involving contract disputes, temporary/permanent injunctions, torts, fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, intellectual property claims, employment related disputes, real estate and title claims, shareholder disputes and derivative actions. As a result, Mr. Socarras is often called upon to handle complex commercial disputes, specifically advising clients on how to avoid litigation as well as managing it once it occurs. Mr. Socarras has litigated and tried cases in almost all courts in Florida, as well as before arbitration panels, among other types of alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Given his experience, he has served as counsel to bankruptcy trustees and creditors, receivers, and litigated assignments for the benefit of creditors. In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Socarras counsels clients in connection with their business transactional needs, which includes contract preparation and negotiations.
Prior to forming the firm, Mr. Socarras served as a partner with a prominent boutique law firm based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Additionally, Mr. Socarras was an associate attorney with an AV rated law firm handling a wide range of general civil litigation matters, including property and general liability claims, contractual and tort claims, insurance coverage disputes, condominium and homeowners’ association law, and defense of catastrophic injury claims. Before private practice, he also interned with the Office of the Attorney General of Florida, Economic Crimes Division.
Mr. Socarras received his law degree from the Stetson University College of Law, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Florida Bar, South Palm Beach County Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, and American Bar Association. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and United States Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Florida. He served on the Bench and Bar Committee for the Broward County Bar Association for the 2010-2011 term. He was recently featured in the 2012 Edition of ALM South Florida’s Top Rated Lawyers, and named in the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 editions of Florida Super Lawyers in its Rising Stars list. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
Mr. Socarras is a native of South Florida. In addition to his active participation in the legal community, he currently serves on the board of a non-profit organization that travels children stricken with challenging medical conditions on dream trips of their choice, and is actively involved with the University of Florida Alumni Association. He is also fluent in Spanish.
